We're ba-ack! After a bit of a hiatus due to us having a baby, we're finally doing reviews again! And, yes, we had a baby - a daughter! :D
Today, we unveil something new. We're going to start doing super short video reviews from time to time. They'll be a minute or less in length, which will be great since we know how busy everyone is.
Our first minute-or-less review is for a Blizzard Collectible Pin. Check it out!
So, what do you think? Is this new, super short format something you'd like to see more often? Let us know in the comments.
As always, thanks for reading and watching, and see you all again soon!
Hey, everyone! Mike here and I'm going solo today to bring you all something a little different. Back in May, I entered the Geektropolis Star Wars Day Contest on Twitter and ended up being one of the winners! The prize? A Star Wars button pack! Fast-forward a little and I recently received an envelope with the following inside:
Geektropolis Business Card
Who knew something as simple as a business card could be exciting? Geektropolis' one has a freakin' fire-breathing dragon with a frog hanging from its mouth on it. How cool is that? What a great design!
Geektropolis Logo Button
Admittedly, this is the only button in the "Button Pack" and it is pretty sweet. I've always been impressed with the Geektropolis logo and it looks amazing on a button.
R2-D2 Pin
The first of 2 Star Wars pins is of R2-D2. It's made of metal and plastic with a rubber pin back. Outside of the geekily phenomenal design, the pin itself is sturdy and well made. I'm definitely going to have to find something to put this pin on!
BB-8 Pin
This pin helps to round out the pack as R2-D2 was something old and BB-8 is something new. I like that! The pins go together as a pretty sweet pair that should be worn together. The only thing missing? A C-3PO pin.
Overview
Look, make no mistake - This button pack is something won in a contest and I am very, very happy about it. But, I've seen bad prizes before, so it feels great to win something awesome. Props to Geektropolis for putting some thought into a Star Wars Day Contest prize.
Now, before I conclude this post, I want to mention that I also uploaded a video review of this button pack onto Youtube. You can watch it here:
And, that's it for now. Many thanks to Geektropolis for the amazing prize. And, thank you all for reading this entry. More is coming soon, so stay tuned!
Hey, peeps! Mike here, and what kind of review blog would we be if we didn't cover some of the latest crazes every now and then? LOL If you've been anywhere near kids lately, the term "Fidget Spinner" most likely popped up more than once. Well, Jess and I are here to fill you in on what that's all about! That's right! We're in the know and we're going to toss some knowledge at ya... Okay, I'll stop trying to sound cool and just give you the video now...
You know, I am amazed at how something so simple could become such a huge fad. This honestly reminds me of my Pog days. Yes, I said Pog. Do you remember Pogs? I remember Pogs.
ANYWAY, I hope you enjoyed the video. I'm actually gearing up to do some actual written reviews in the near future, so stay tuned for some Vintage In Box coming soon! ;)
Hey, everyone! We're back today with an unboxing and review video of the April, 2017 Loot Gaming crate. No, no, we're not jumping back into a subscription program. Instead, this is just a one-off since we got super excited when we saw a preview for one of the items in the box. Anyway, here's the video:
We hope you enjoyed that. More is coming very soon to In Box, so stay tuned!
Hello, everyone! We're ba-ack! Yes, that's right. After a short hiatus, Jess and I are back with more unboxings and reviews. Today, I take a look at a blind box figure for the board game "Krosmaster: Arena".
If you want more info on "Krosmaster: Arena" and other Krosmaster products, I highly recommend you check out Cool Mini or Not's web site. They're a fantastic board game publisher. Their site is at www.cmon.com
And, that's all for now. More is coming soon, so stay tuned!
Have you seen those cute, 4-legged plush versions of Disney characters they're selling at the Disney Store? You know, the ones that come in different sizes so you can stack them all over your house? Well, they now have hard plastic versions that come in blind packs! Plus, these versions come with display stands! I picked up a couple of Marvel packs over at Toys R Us and made a review video so you can all share in the awesomeness. Check it out!
I hope you enjoyed that. More is coming, so stay tuned!
Jess and I love "Stranger Things". In fact, Jess cosplayed as Barb last year at FanExpo! So, when I found Pop! figures from the series at 401 Games in Toronto, I had to pick one up. Believe it or not, the Chase version of Eleven with her blonde wig is $75! That's why the following review is only for the regular version, which has her holding her beloved Eggos.
Well, I hope you enjoyed that. More is coming, so stay tuned!
Did you know I speak French? No? Well, I do. It's my third language. But, isn't French Canada's official second language? Why, yes, it is. So, why is it my third? It's because I'm of Chinese descent and my parents taught me both English and Cantonese Chinese before I learned French in school. Why is this important? Because I speak some French in the following review of the Funko Pop! figure of Jess' favourite Disney villain - Gaston from "Beauty and the Beast". Enjoy!
As Jess and I continue to delve deeper and deeper into our new obsession with miniature plastic food collectibles, we keep finding sets with weirder and weirder names. For example, we have a brand new review for something called "Funny Is Coming". What does that even mean? Watch the video to find out.
So, as it turns out, Funny never showed up. Instead, we got Cute. I hope you enjoyed this review. More is coming soon, so stay tuned!
Jess and I have this weird new obsession with miniature plastic food. It's not edible and horrible for the diets we are trying to maintain since these collectibles look so good they make us hungry. Still, they're so adorable that we can't help but pick some up each time we find new ones. Today, we look at something called "Gudetama Meets Danger". That odd title got us hook, line, and sinker. So, for your viewing pleasure, here is our video review!
We hope you enjoyed that. There is a lot more coming soon to In Box, so stay tuned!
Are you a fan of John Wick? What about Keanu Reeves? Me, I'm a fan of both, so when I saw a John Wick Pop! figure on the shelf at 401 Games in Toronto, I absolutely had to buy it. If you're wondering whether a John Wick Pop! figure is as good as it sounds, please watch my review to find out.
I hope you enjoyed that. More is coming soon, so stay tuned. And, as always, thanks for watching!
A while back, Nerd Block sent me an e-mail boasting that they were teaming with Stan Lee to create a one shot box filled with items that he chose. Although I had sworn off subscribing to Nerd Block, I am such a big fan of Stan that I couldn't help ordering a Stan Lee Box when it finally became available. Now that I have it in hand, what do I think of it? Watch this video to find out!
(NOTE: I missed an item, which was an art print of Stan Lee hanging upside down from a Spider-Man web. This is because it was placed inside the box with the blank, white back up and I couldn't see it during the review. Many apologies.)
I hope you enjoyed that review. Although I won't be ordering any other one shot boxes from Nerd Block in the future, if you liked the items you saw, then I think it's still good value.
More In Box is coming soon, so stay tuned. And, as always, thanks for watching!
Recently, Jess and I found a whole section in One's at Market Village (Markham, ON) that sells miniature plastic food. This has opened up a whole new world of collectibles for us, which is horrible since we already collect way too many things! Ha ha! Anyway, when Jess found a set of miniature plastic food that is based on Gudetama the Lazy Egg, she absolutely had to buy one. Here is her review:
I hope you enjoyed that. More reviews of miniature plastic food is guaranteed to happen, so stay tuned! And, as always, thanks for watching!
Hey, everyone! You all know that Jess and I love to collect nerdy things, but what about miniature plastic replica food from Japan? Watch the video to find out not only what I'm talking about, but also whether this will become a "thing" in our household!
I hope you enjoyed the video and marital bickering that Jess clearly won. ^_~
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more In Box coming soon!
Happy New Year! During my first visit to Silver Snail Comics in 2017, I happened upon a case of Masters of the Universe Action Vinyls. As you know, I loved the Power Rangers Action Vinyl I got from Hot Topic last year, so I just had to pick up one of these. I hope you enjoy the impromptu review I shot using my cell phone. ^_~
Thanks for watching and stay tune for more In Box coming soon!
Hey, everybody! I am super excited today because I just received my Loot Anime box. Now, before you go thinking I somehow got my hands on some kind of early release November crate, I have to point out that I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Up here in the Great White North, we get our crates late. So, this entry is for the October Loot Anime box. Aw, don't feel bad for us poor Canadians. We're used to getting everything late. LOL Anyway, here's the latest unboxing and review video for my Loot Anime box.
I hope you enjoyed that. Now, it's time for the written part of this blog, and we'll begin with the usual photo of the box with everything in it. ^_~
In case some of you haven't heard of Loot Crate, it’s a monthly subscription box that caters to "nerds" and "geeks". Each month, subscribers get a box of items that match the announced theme. Loot Anime is the Japanese animation and comics spin-off version of Loot Crate. Like its parent program, Loot Anime has different subscription options. Here's a breakdown with shipping to Canada included:
1 Month Plan - $34.95 USD / $47.00 CAD per month
3 Month Plan - $101.85 USD / $138.00 CAD per 3 months
6 Month Plan - $197.70 USD / $268.00 CAD per 6 months
1 Year Plan - $383.40 / $519.00 CAD per year (includes free bonus T-Shirt)
If you've seen the pricing for Loot Crate, you will notice that Loot Anime is more expensive. Plus, the conversion to Canadian Dollars is pretty painful due to the weak dollar at the moment. One can only hope the items are still worth the price tag.
OCTOBER, 2016 - DELICIOUS
I have only ever subscribed to Loot Anime for one month and it was mainly to get an idea what it was like. So, what drew me back to it for yet another month? The theme! I love food. I post tons of food photos on Instagram. I eat a lot. (I also have to work out a lot to work off all those calories. LOL) So, when I saw the food theme for Loot Anime, I just had to subscribe and then cancel once again! So, did the box live up to my expectations? Let's find out! For starters, here's a list of items in the box with approximate Canadian prices:
- Loot Anime Poster ($3.50 CAD)
- Loot Anime Phone Charm ($4.50 CAD)
- Naruto Ramen Bowl ($10.50 CAD)
- Sweetness & Lightning #1 ($15.00 CAD)
- Food Wars! Apron ($16.00 CAD)
- Himouto! Umaru-chan Figure ($7.00 CAD)
- Gudetama Plushie ($10.00 CAD)
Loot Anime Custom Box
This Loot Anime custom box design features food and utensils, which are quite fitting for the theme. It's simple, but fun and effective.
Loot Anime Poster
Instead of getting a mini magazine like in a Loot Crate or Loot Gaming box, Loot Anime subscribers get a poster with great art on the front and item descriptions on the back. I think this girl in a dessert cafe design is wonderful and would represent me quite well if it featured a boy instead. :)
Loot Anime Phone Charm
Another place Loot Anime deviates from the standard Crate format is with this phone charm, which takes the place of the Loot Crate pin. On its own, the ice cream sundae design is already a winner. With a little metal spoon, this phone charm reaches "epic" level.
Naruto Ramen Bowl
I'm a pretty big fan of "Naruto" and this bowl is the perfect food-themed product for that series. I love the design! My only criticisms are that it can't go in the microwave or the dishwasher... WHAT?!
Sweetness & Lightning #1
It's always wonderful to receive the first issue of a comic I've never heard of. The art in "Sweetness & Lightning" looks fantastic, so I'm pretty excited to start into this manga.
Food Wars! Apron
I have never heard of "Food Wars!", but this apron is super cute and probably going to end up being used by Jess while cooking. Great item!
Himouto! Umaru-chan Figure
This adorable little collectible figure is from yet another Anime series I've never heard of. This won't stop me from displaying the figure, though. It's so cute! <3
Gudetama Plushie
Gudetama rocks my world and this little plushie is so perfect that I can't look at it for more than 3 seconds before squealing in delight like a little schoolgirl. This is by far my favourite item in this crate. Love love LOVE!
OVERVIEW
I can't compliment this Loot Anime box enough. The theming is on point, the items are fantastic, the value is great, and I can't stop hugging that Gudetama Plushie, making it very difficult to type this entry. This is what a themed nerdy Anime box should be like every single month and I can't recommend Loot Anime enough.

Thank you for reading and watching. Stay tuned for more In Box coming soon!
Hey, everyone! Today, I have a brand new video review of something a little different - a bow tie! Since it came in a box, I figured it counts towards the theme of this blog. LOL Anyway, here's the video:
I hope you enjoyed the video. Now, I'll leave you all with a photo of this stunning and nerdy tie:
Hey, everybody! It's October and I just received my September Loot Crate a couple of days ago. Unlike with the August box, I'm a lot less disappointed since the postage label said that the September Crate was shipped on the 23rd. Sure, it arrived in October, but at least I didn't have to wait as long as before. Anyway, first things first, here's the unboxing video, which has a brand new, earth shattering feature - background music. LOL Enjoy!
Man, what a real butt-clencher! (Guess the reference.) Now, it's time for the obligatory photo showing the open box with items exploding out the top.
Ah, my lip-ends twist up when I look at that! (Another reference. ^_~)
For those of you who aren’t familiar of Loot Crate, it’s a monthly subscription box that caters to "nerds" and "geeks". Each month, subscribers get a themed box of 4 to 8 items. There are several different subscription options you can choose from. Here's a breakdown with shipping to Canada included:
1 Month Plan - $29.95 USD / $41.00 CAD per month
3 Month Plan - $84.00 USD / $114.00 CAD per 3 months
6 Month Plan - $162.00 USD / $219.00 CAD per 6 months
1 Year Plan - $312.00 / $423.00 CAD per year (includes Bonus T-Shirt)
As some of you who have read this blog in the past have probably noticed, the cost for this program has gone up significantly for Canadians, due in part to our weak dollar at the moment. Regardless of the reason, this hurts. One can only hope the items are still worth the price tag.
SEPTEMBER, 2016 - SPEED
When I think of the word "Speed", I think of fast cars, bullet trains, the Flash, that Keanu Reeves movie, and Usain Bolt. Obviously, items related to most of those probably weren't in the September Crate. So, what were? Here's a list, along with approximate Canadian prices that I ignored real work to look up:
- Loot Crate Mini Magazine ($2.50 CAD)
- Loot Crate Theme Pin ($2.50 CAD)
- Stark Racing T-Shirt ($18.00 CAD)
- Gone in 60 Seconds Car ($7.50 CAD)
- Batwing Key Chain ($12.00 CAD)
- Battlestar Galactica Titans Ship ($15.00 CAD)
- The Flash Hood Ornament ($15.00 CAD)
Loot Crate Custom Box
I don't even know where to begin to describe how cool this month's box is. Honestly, it's possibly the best box they've designed to date. Well done, Loot Crate!
Loot Crate Mini Magazine
This continues to be one of my favourite parts of being a Looter. Despite the somewhat boring cover design, the contents of this magazine are anything but. The great articles, which includes an interview with artists from the "Wonder Woman" comics, are a joy to read.
Loot Crate Theme Pin
Loot Crate has been on a roll with their pin designs. This one features a pun, which is right in my comedy wheelhouse.
Stark Racing T-Shirt
Black shirt - Bad
Marvel - Good
My favourite number - Awesome
Gone in 60 Seconds Car
I admit that I have never watched "Gone in 60 Seconds", but I love Nicolas Cage, so I also love this car. Oh, and the hood lifts up to reveal the engine. It's so cool!
Batwing Key Chain
This Loot Crate Exclusive is detailed, sturdy, and looks absolutely awesome. Honestly, the Batwing isn't something that would immediately come to mind when thinking about "Speed", but it is definitely fast, so I'll give it a pass.
Battlestar Galactica Titans Ship
I don't collect Titans outside of the ones I receive in subscription boxes, but will say that I get excited every time I get one. This Cylon Raider is no exception. I could go on and on about how cool it is, but I'll focus on one point only - The paint application. It's phenomenal! I mean, just look at the battle damage! This item is awesome!
The Flash Hood Ornament
My favourite item in this Crate is this Flash hood ornament. It's made of plastic, but I think that's fine considering you in install it by simply sticking it to your hood via the magnet underneath. If this thing was metal, it would definitely fly off. As it is now, the box claims the magnet's grip can withstand speeds up to 75 MPH. That's pretty darn amazing! Just make sure that if you ever get one of these that you remove it whenever you leave your car. It's bound to get stolen if you don't!
OVERVIEW
Overall, I think this is a pretty good box. Not the best I've received, but definitely one that keeps me excited about Loot Crate. Personally, I think a car from "The Fast and the Furious" would have been much better than Eleanor. Plus, I think there was just a tiny bit of cheating having 2 items based on flying ships. I can excuse one of either the Batwing or the Cylon Raider. Both seems a tad lazy. The Batmobile would have worked much better than the Batwing. Still, like I said, I liked this box. Ignoring the theming, it's tops when it comes to items. That and the ridiculously amazing box evens things out.
And, that concludes this latest attempt at being relevant. If my prattling actually got you interested in Loot Crate, head on over to their web site HERE. Want to save some green? The discount code for 10% off a new subscription is SAVE10.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more In Box coming soon!
Hey, everyone! It’s almost October and I just received my August Loot Crate! Yes, you read that right - “August”. While Americans have already received their September Loot Crates, we up here in the Great White North are finally getting a partial reprieve from our tears shed after having the Anti-Hero items rubbed in our faces online. You’re probably wondering why it’s taken so long for us in Canada to get our Crates. Well, we have something called “Canada Post” and they hate us. All of us. They enjoy making us wait ridiculous amounts of time for everything and are powered by tears, especially those of children. Damn you, Canada Post. Damn you to Heeeeeelllllllllllll!!!
Oh, and here’s a video showing me unboxing my Crate:
And, here’s a photo of everything together, marking the true beginning of this blog entry:

AUGUST, 2016 - ANTI-HERO
When I received my Crate, I had waited so long for it that I had honestly forgotten what the theme was. Before making the unboxing video, I actually had to Google it! I also have no memory of what I felt when I first heard about the theme back in July. So, I’m just going to jump right into listing the items in the box with approximate Canadian pricing noted:
- Loot Crate Mini Magazine ($2.50 CAD)
- Loot Crate Theme Pin ($2.50 CAD)
- Archer T-Shirt ($18.00 CAD)
- Hellboy Money Bank ($20.00 CAD)
- Kill Bill Socks ($10.00 CAD)
- Harley Quinn Q-Fig ($20.00 CAD)
Loot Crate Custom Box
This is by far one of the best custom box designs I’ve seen from Loot Crate. I love how much fun it is! Plus, look how badass it makes me look! :p
Loot Crate Mini Magazine
This month’s magazine is packed with great articles, like “What’s the deal with Hellboy’s Hand?”, “History of Harley Quinn”, and “Favorite Running Gags From Archer”. There’s even a recipe!
Loot Crate Theme Pin
I used to play “World of Warcraft” quite a bit, but have been away from it for a long time. Still, I appreciate this month’s pin and am in awe at how detailed it is.
Archer T-Shirt
This is a very appropriate t-shirt since it’s the US Presidential Election this year. As a fan of “Archer”, I love the design.
Hellboy Money Bank
This Loot Crate Exclusive is fantastic! Detailed, sturdy, great for displaying on a shelf, and perfect for saving money to take Jess on a trip to Europe. I have lots of love for this piggy bank!
Kill Bill Socks
I wear colourful socks almost every day. What’s better than colourful socks? Colourful socks featuring nerdy things that I love. These “Kill Bill” socks are going to be on my feet over and over again.
Harley Quinn Q-Fig
This is by far the best Q-Fig I’ve seen. Harley’s pose is quite fitting. The details are off the charts. The paint job is nearly perfect. I can’t wait for people to see this little statue on my bookshelf. This is definitely my favourite item in this Crate.
OVERVIEW
Loot Crate has done it again! Phenomenal items, amazing value, fantastic theming, and top marks in the fun department make this one of the best boxes they’ve ever put together. It makes me incredibly excited for the September Crate, which will hopefully arrive soon.
It you’re interested in Loot Crate or want to sign up, head over to their web site HERE. Use code SAVE10 for 10% off a new subscription.
And, that’s a wrap. More unboxings and reviews are coming soon, so stay tuned!
Hey, it's Mike and today I'm bring you a video review of the Transformers Alt-Modes figure I picked up from Walmart. Usually, I try to be somewhat serious, but today things get a little goofy. I hope you enjoy watching me be a total dork. ^_~
More reviews are coming soon, so stay tuned. And, as always, thanks for dropping by!
